WinterActive 2013
Winter Active is designed to help Orillians improve their health while having fun enjoying the best of Canada's winter. The idea is to encourage residents to 'Get up, go out and be Winter Active!'
Unfortunately, with the lack of snow this year WinterActive has been postponed until February 15 - 18, Family Day Weekend. Plan to bring gather your family members and participate in as many activities as you can.
NOTE: The annual Snowflake series run will still take place as scheduled on Sunday, January 20. For more information or to register go to the CANI Running website.

Old-Style Victorian Skate Party (Friday, February 15)
Join us on Friday, February 15 for a nice relaxing skate on Lake Couchiching. Skate from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and all skaters will recieve complementary hot chocolate. Come in a Victorian age costume and be eligible to win prizes. Everyone is welcome to come and experience an old-fashioned skate under the stars.
Snow Volleyball Tournament (Saturday, February 16)
Put together a team and come on out to J.B. Tudhope Park on Saturday, February 16 to participate in the annual snow volleyball tournament. Perfect for a team of co-workers, classmates, friends or family. Just remember, all teams must be coed, up to six players playing at a time but two you must have a minimum of two female players playing at all times.
Games will be played on the beach volleyball courts from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Teams are to register at the Barnfield Point Recreation Centre from 9:30 AM - 10:00 AM.
Youth Outdoor Games (Saturday, February 16)
Join members of the Orillia Youth Centre at Couchiching Beach Park on Saturday, February 16 for a number of outdoor games. The games will take place throughout the park from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM and all youth are invited to participate.
Cardboard Box Toboggan Race (Sunday, February 17)
This very popular activity will once again hit the slopes of the toboggan hill at the Couchiching Golf Course on Sunday, February 17. Arrive at the hill by 1:00 PM to get your toboggan registered and races will begin as soon as all of the toboggans have been registered. Get creative with the design of your toboggan and don't forget to challenge your neighbours, friends or co-workers to come up with a better design then yours.
Entries may be made as individuals or as a team and all toboggans must be made of primarily from cardboard. Additional items may be used on the underside of the toboggan, however: a traditional sled may not be attached (i.e. using a crazy carpet as the base). Acceptable materials include: duct tape, tin foil, shower curtains, garbage bags, etc. If you are uncertain if the material is acceptable contact Parks, Recreation and Culture for clarification.
Helmets MUST BE WORN by everyone riding on the toboggan!

Fox and Geese Obstacle Race (Sunday, February 17)
New for this year at Couchiching Golf Course will be a winter version of the game of tag. The Fox and Geese Obstacle race will take place on Sunday, January 20 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Come on out and see what makes this winter game different and exciting.
FREE Public Skating (Monday, February 18)
Come on out to Rotary Place from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Family Day and skate for free.
Monday February 18, 2013– Snow Shoeing at Scout Valley. Two sessions! 10am – 12pm or 1pm – 3pm. Complementary light lunch served between sessions. Organized by Kids for Turtles.
